Local Theatre Update - "Richard III", "Equus" and "Dealer's Choice"

Tickets for Shakespeare's "Richard III", starring the fantastic Kevin Spacey, was out for public sales on SISTIC yesterday!

"Richard III" is the final season of The Bridge Project and is being brought to our local shores by the Singapore Repertory Theatre. The play will be staged at the Esplanade Theatre from from17 to 26 November 2011.

The play opened in London at the Old Vic Theatre with rave reviews. Check out the Guardian's article here.

Red Dot Diva urges those who desire to see a powerful performance by Kevin Spacey and the mix of British and American cast members to grab their tickets early. Already tickets for some of the days are almost sold out!

Another play by local production company, Pangdemonium, also opened ticket on SISTIC yesterday. Their latest offering "Dealer's Choice" is about a game of poker amongst six men that reveals more about themselves than they expect.

The contemporary comedy is by playwright Patrick Marber, and will star popular local stage actors - Adrian Pang, Daniel Jenkins, Keagan Kang, Julian Low, Andy Tear and Daniel York. Tricia Pang directs the play, which will run from 29 September to 16 October at the Drama Centre Theatre, National Library.

And if one is not looking for a historical drama or modern-styled laughs, then perhaps "Equus", the controversial play about crime and passion may be worth buying tickets for. Red Dot Diva acknowledges that this is the play by British playwright Peter Shaffer that "Harry Potter" lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was shockingly famous for. Daniel went for full nudity on stage at the West End and Broadway.

The local production directed by Rayann Condy is produced by Toy Factory Productions and will star Brendon Fernandez as the psychiatrist Martin Dysart. Young actor Ethan Chia will take on the daring role as the disturbed stable boy, Alan Strang.
"Equus" is rated R18 due to the nude scenes involved and will run from 25 August to 3 September at the Drama Centre Theatre, National Library. Tickets are also already on sale on SISTIC now.

Phew! Such a variety of choices for theatre lovers in the coming months!

Red Dot Diva is all ready to get her mind wonderfully entertained and twisted by these wonderful plays. Even if this might mean a poorer bank balance!
